I own Dogma on Steam and the other two thanks to Gamepass. ![]() The games in particular I'm thinking of include Dragon Quest XI S, Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen and Octopath Traveler. Long-term or "once per save" achievements, such as prophecy completions or major narrative events, can be counted retroactively for achievement progress when you load a Switch save into the game through Steam. After being pretty disappointed at the lack of a Switch Pro announcement any time soon while also being quite surprised how well my PC runs Monster Hunter Stories 2, I've been wondering if it was actually possible to convert a Switch save of a multiplatform game to have it work on a different port of the same game, namely PC. The Steam launcher tracks the game as you play it in order to give you achievements - for obvious reasons, this doesn't work on Switch. One quirk of cross-saves that often goes overlooked is Steam achievements. You can't do this on Switch since the file system is inaccessible, so if you want to move one set of saves to avoid a conflict, you should do it on PC to accommodate your Switch files. to move a slot 1 save to slot 3, you'd rename every "Profile1" file to "Profile3" (Profile1.sav > Profile3.sav, Profile1_Temp.sav > Profile3_Temp.sav). You can move PC save files to a different slot by finding them in \Documents\Saved Games\Hades\ and changing the number suffix for every "ProfileX" file to the number for your desired save slot, e.g. If you have different saves in different slots - a save in slot 1 on Switch and a different save in slot 2 on PC, and those are the only slots you're using on each device - using cross-saves will simply make both save files available on both devices, with no conflicts. Saves can be recovered on PC if this happens, but they can't be recovered on Switch. There's also always a chance you accidentally hit the wrong prompt during the cloud conflict and overwrite one of your saves permanently. Generally speaking, if you want to have two different saves in the same slot on both devices, and you want to keep those saves separate from one another (rather than choosing one save that's furthest along to use on both devices), it's probably best if you don't use cross-saves, since that kind of defeats the purpose of syncing your progress across all devices anyways. The cloud conflict dialogue will allow you to choose whether to proceed with a local or cloud save. If two different save files are being played on Switch and PC in the same save slot, you'll be presented with a "cloud conflict" when you try to load that save on either device. ![]() So yes, as far as I know, it's actually necessary for save files to first be synced to those servers so that they can then be synced across. Hey there! To answer your last question first, cross-saves rely on the Steam or Epic cloud saves and Nintendo cloud saves architectures in order to function. ![]()
